The present study evaluated the preemptive analgesic effect of a combination of pregabalin with celecoxib for lumbar spine surgery.
The study divided 60 lumbar spine surgery patients into two groups. It achieved Postoperative pain relief with intravenous patient-controlled analgesia with morphine.
The study administered oral pregabalin (150 mg) and celecoxib (200 mg) 2 hrs before surgery in the preemptive analgesia group and placebo in the control group. It assessed Pain by visual analogue scale (VAS); and monitored side effects and morphine consumption until 48 hrs after surgery.
The study found-
This study shows that Preoperative administration of pregabalin combined with celecoxib renders a good preemptive analgesia effect and reduces intravenous morphine consumption after lumbar spine surgery, with mild and transient side effects.
